Association of rs780094 and rs1260326 glucokinase regulatory protein gene polymorphisms with dyslipidemia in a group of Serbian acute ischemic stroke patients

Although genetic variations rs780094 and rs1260326 of the glucokinase regulatory protein gene (GCKR) could be associated with lipid profile imbalance, their influence on acute ischemic stroke (AIS) risk has not yet been established. The aim this study was to investigate GCKR single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) parameters in patients AIS, evaluate association these SNPs AIS. In a case-control study, total 148 subjects were screened for using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method. determined based serum cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C), high-density (HDL-C) triacylglycerol (TG) concentrations. frequencies minor rs780094T allele rs1260326T significantly lower AIS compared controls. rs780094TT genotype rs1260326TT decreased wildtype carriers. conclusion, is first implying that homozygous carriers caused by dyslipidemia, but possibly lack coagulation factor glycosylation.
